The preparatory workshop for Désertif’actions 2026 in Kenya will enable civil society organisations, local communities and political authorities to exchange experiences and work together

Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Association is a network of  Civil Society Organizations / NGOs working with Small-scale farmers in East, Central, and Southern Africa. The Kenyan country chapter of the PELUM Association and has a membership of 63 Member Organizations. PELUM Kenya network promotes agroecological principles and practices through the following approaches among member organizations, small holder farmers and pastoralists communities in Kenya. PELUM Kenya conduct actions: advocacy and policy influence, networking, capacity development, and knowledge sharing.

Programme for the workshop

The workshop will focus on the following questions:

  • How can we support farms and livestock farms in their transition to greater resilience in the face of drought?
  • How can we preserve and facilitate the development of drought-relevant systems based on mobility strategies, in an increasingly constrained context?
  • What is the role of women and in preserving biodiversity and combating desertification and how can we meaningfully incorporate them in territorial planning and management?
