The French Water Partnership, with the support of CARI, Agropolis International, EAT and AIRMF, is organising the national workshop “Agriculture, Water and Territories: coping with drought together” on Friday 3 October 2025 at Agropolis International in Montpellier.

This workshop is being organised to encourage exchanges between interested members of the PFE and, in particular, its ESASA working group (Water, Soil, Agroecology and Food Security), scientists, professional agricultural managers, water and agricultural water managers, local authorities and administrations, students, international cooperation players, etc.

This one-day workshop will be structured around a presentation of the problem, based on a ‘drought and resilience’ version of the PFE’s framework message on the ESASA theme, several concrete examples showing the importance of this problem for the areas along the French Mediterranean coast and the responses that can be provided, and the points of view expressed by the members of the PFE’s ESASA WG and other workshop participants.

The aim of this workshop is to :

  • Share observations from the field and the analyses of the organisations represented
  • Highlight the impact of droughts and the actions taken to deal with them, as well as the feins and levers to be mobilised or initiated, to speed up the necessary agricultural transitions and provide better control of the regions and water management.
  • Develop collective messages to be taken to influential forums (6th Désertif’actions Summit to be held from 25 to 28 March 2026 in Djerba, Tunisia, international water forums and conferences, COP, etc.).
